And the hits keep coming! Only a few days after the fun, colorful, wonderful Dumpling announced this weekend will be its last, the fun, colorful, wonderful Grand Catch has announced that it'll close at the end of this month.

"We recently made the extremely difficult decision not to renew our lease. It's been a fantastic four and a half years with lots of highs (and some major lows)," the St. Paul seafood restaurant wrote in a farewell Instagram post. (Hm, no idea what that could be referring to!)

Grand Catch opened in Mac-Groveland in 2018, in a bright-blue building that hinted at the fun awaiting you inside. As you entered, a winking neon crab and "What's crackin?" sign were more signals that this would be a laid-back and vibey meal to remember, with chef Sameh Wadi (Saffron, World Street Kitchen) serving up his fresh and clever take on Viet Cajun fare.

The spice levels weren't messing around, and the boozy cocktails weren't either. Back in the Before Times when Grand Catch offered brunch, it's my humble opinion that theirs was one of the best and most original in the Twin Cities. (The fluffy soft-scrambled eggs, the lobster avocado toast...) And it's rightfully remained popular, running away with a recent informal r/Minneapolis poll about where to find the best seafood in the Twin Cities.

"We are extremely grateful to all of our employees, past and present, for having been an important part of this wonderful ride," the farewell reads. "Your hard work and dedication is unparalleled."
